by Jay Wilburn

Jay Wilburn: Thanks for having me over. Tell everyone who you are.

Alathia Paris Morgan: Alathia Paris Morgan … Are you okay? You’re shivering. Do you need a blanket?

Jay: Um, no, I have a Wonder Woman blanket in car. I’ve just been through a lot gathering these interviews. You wouldn’t believe.

Morgan: Oh, I’m sorry.

Jay: It’s fine. Tell us the title of your latest release.

Morgan: MAZ: Moms Against Zombies.

Jay: Moms? Interesting.

Morgan: This novel takes on the view of what a mother/mothers would do if the Zombie Apocalypse happened. Would they be able to protect their young children? Can children really survive the Zombie Apocalypse?

Jay: Hmm, I hope so. Tell us about the moms in this story, Emma and Tracy.

Morgan: Emma Jackson, new mother of a six week old, Pierce. Her husband, Brad is in the military and out of the country, so it’s up to her to protect her new son. While she has gun training, she prefers a non-violent approach, but the undead are not willing to talk things out.

Tracy Walsh is the mother of four children. When the Zombie outbreak occurs she flees to the country, hoping her husband, Cooper will join her. His job is a top secret and he senses there is more at work than a simple Zombie scare. When his office is robbed, he must find out why the thieves planned a Zombie scare and what they were really after.

Jay: This story is something different for the zombie genre.

Morgan: The differences in this series are how a family would survive during a Zombie outbreak and how mothers would cope with a Zombie outbreak. Most stories focus on the aftermath and this series is concentrated on how people react and adjust to their new environments. The aspect that makes it really unique is that it follows moms who will do anything to make sure their children survive. We don’t normally see zombie books with small children; they tend to be teenagers or older when most outbreaks occur.

Jay: Do I understand this will be part of a series?

Morgan: This is the first in the Against Series: I’m not sure of the order yet, but Dads Against Zombies, Military Against Zombies, Church Against Zombies, Kids/Teens Against Zombies will be coming out over the next few years.

Jay: What is you goal or vision in writing this series?

Morgan: My main goal is to bring out ideas and thoughts that most people haven’t come across while reading about zombies.  I feel that each one of these titles will bring a new perspective to the zombie outbreak in my world’s series. Since this is the first one in the series, I can’t guarantee how the zombies will evolve.

Jay: Thank you. Everyone should check out MAZ: Moms Against Zombies. Ugh, do you have a box I can borrow? I need to mail something back to Armand.

Morgan: Armand Rosamilia told me not to help you.

Jay: *nods and leaves foiled by Rosamilia once again*
