Spotlight On Lauren Wilson

*Several people gather around tables and counters enjoying the food. Zombies claw at the windows on the unfenced side of the house. Lauren Wilson steps to the side where Jay Wilburn stands*

Lauren Wilson: We’ll need to make this quick. We have zombies to clear and dinner to prep. And The Walking Dead, my publisher, and AMC still want me to complete the book tour even though the zombie apocalypse is going on.

Jay Wilburn: Wow. They are strict with their promotion schedule. Thanks for meeting with me. Can you state your name and your latest work for me?

Wilson: Lauren Wilson. My latest is The Walking Dead: The Official Cookbook and Survival Guide.

Jay: Describe it for me.

Wilson: Based on the hit AMC television series, this cookbook is packed with life-saving tips and unique recipes inspired by The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead: The Official Cookbook and Survival Guide details the skills and recipes you need to survive (while avoiding being eaten) during a walker apocalypse. Inspired by the hit AMC television series, the book features recipes for meals featured on the show, plus food and drinks inspired by key characters and locations, along with expert information on foraging, hunting wild game, and outdoor cooking. Featuring familiar treats like Carl’s pudding, Carol Peletier’s baked goods, and Hershel’s spaghetti, this is the ultimate gift for fans and walker-wary survivalists alike.

Jay: A cookbook is an unusual entry point into zombies. How did that come about?

Wilson: I got into zombie apocalypse cooking as an intersection of two of my passions. I am a professional cook and food writer and a huge zombie nerd. When a friend suggested I write a cookbook for the zombie apocalypse, a light bulb just went off.

Jay: With all the study you did of the series to write this book, what advice or warning would you give to readers and fans?

Wilson: Hide from Negan!

Jay: Great. Do you mind if I grab a plate now?

Wilson: Normally, I would say, yes, but we are out of M&M’s because of the trouble you caused with Rosamilia. I think it’s best, if you go.

Jay: Okay. I understand. I should leave these to make up for it.

*Sets a bag on M&M’s on the table*

Wilson: Where did you get these?

Jay: I stole them from Jack Wallen’s compound.

Wilson: great …

*Jay walks toward the backdoor*

Wilson: And leave the cookies.

*Jay pauses. He takes a stack of cookies from his pocket and places them on the counter.*

Wilson: And the vegetable medley.

*Jay takes a handful of vegetables from his other pocket and sets them next to the cookies. He sighs and leaves.*
