FALLEN SNEAK PEEK

She’s shaking her head, the movement becoming more violent with each passing second. “No!” She screeches. “I can barely understand a thing you’re saying! Look at your reflection, Harold!” My subconscious prompts me there’s something I should remember—something very important—but for the life of me, my mind is drawing a blank.

Confusion and agitation are crawling over my skin. I’ve never lost my temper with Shelly before, but she’s pushing every one of my buttons. Her demand resonates as I happen to look at the window level with the street. The reflection slams into me.

I’m Infected.

The disease has spread; my forehead is the size of a basketball, and white pustules and lesions cover my face. Yellow skin, red veins, sunken and hollowed out eyes looking at me. Jekyll and Hyde are playing a of tug-of-war game within my brain. One wanting me to remember the good, to hug Betsy tight, and remember I’m going home to Evelyn soon. The other whispering cruelly to drag Shelly out to the street, and devour her.
