The Case for Jessica Gomez #SummerZombie

by Jay Wilburn

Jessica Gomez is dedicated to her Flash series and takes great care with each new installment in the series right up to and including book 3: Evolved. She has a range of other great work available as well. Book three remain on the two main characters from Infected and Immune, Lillie and Ian, who readers have grown to love. She tells me in book four, we’re going to start branching off with the other characters in the series. The Infected are growing in intelligence, as the title “Evolved” probably hints at, so who knows where she’ll take us next next. I’m looking forward to continuing on with the saga after completing book 3.

Gomez’s origin story always included writing. She told me writing had always been a part of her life, even at a young age. She’s written short stories since she was little. Driving herself to actually publish was definitely a hurdle for her. She met a few people in the Indie world that have been solid rocks for her to work with. That’s the best part about writing, in her opinion, is the amazing people you meet. Readers and other authors alike. She considers herself fortunate to have great people surrounding her.

I asked her about the key difference between writing zombies and writing suspense romance. She told me for her, there’s not too many differences, other than not having flesh eating crazy zombies. The relationships of the characters are built differently. In a Zombie world, most relationships form because of dependence on one another. In suspense romances, the relationships are organic and naturally form. Most of the time that’s true in her writing, she thinks. She believes that’s the biggest difference for me. She says she may require researching more in depth as well for her zombie stories. Other than that, she looks at writing process the same.

Looking at what’s ahead, Gomez tells me that she’s looking at a series she needs to finish up that falls under Suspense Romance. It’s great too for those of you who dabble in that genre as readers. Then, she plans on doing another series along the same line. She’s hoping to have another anthology out this year too.

I hope I have made the case for Jessica Gomez. Check out book 3 in her Flash series with Evolved or begin now with book 1. If you want to know more about her and her work, check out this “case for” post from a previous tour or any of the links above.
