How Zombies Changed My Life #SummerZombie

by Baileigh Higgins

Today, I’d like to talk about how zombies changed my life, and I mean that in a literal sense. Now, I’ve always been a zombie fan. I read the books, I watch the movies, I play the games. Heck I even wear the t-shirts and fantasize about owning the ultimate zombie killer weapon. (It’s a tie between a crossbow and Lucille for now.)

Naturally, I have a bug out bag in my closet, and I regularly plan my escape route should the apocalypse occur. I even have a “People I most want to turn into zombies so I can kill them” list. It’s a fun pastime, one I enjoy immensely, and it alleviates the monotony of day to day life.

But, and this is the whole point of today’s post, does any of that change my life in a significant way? Nope, it doesn’t.

What did change my life was writing zombie fiction, though. I can honestly look back and say that the day I sat down and penned my first zombie book, was the day my whole life changed.

How so?

Well, not only did my life suddenly becoming a walking talking tribute to all things undead, much to my hubby’s annoyance, but it also launched my career as an independent writer.

Last Another Day was the first book I wrote. It was also the first book I published, and it so happened to be the first book in a highly successful zombie apocalypse series. One which enabled me to become a full time writer, thus realizing my wildest dreams.

So, did zombies change my life? Yes!

I am where I am in life today because of those lovable shambling corpses, and I’ll be forever grateful to them for helping me achieve my goals. That doesn’t mean I won’t kill you if come after me in zombie form, though. Remember, survival above all else!

If you’d like to check out the book that started my writing journey, you can find it here. It’s a zombie apocalypse saga that’ll have you on the edge of your seat until the very end. A story with heart and a grit, courage and determination. Not to be missed!
