Before Wizard and Glass #StephenKingRevisited

by Jay Wilburn

The plan is to reread all of Stephen King’s works in the order that they were published. Richard Chizmar of Cemetery Dance had the vision. I’m doing it because I am a writer and I want to improve my fiction. And I love Stephen King’s stories. I think there is something to be learned through this process.

You can also go back to the beginning and read Before Carrie or any of my other posts up through this one and beyond by checking out this link to the Master List of all my #StephenKingRevisited posts.

I did not finish this book, The Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass. I got to the long flashback, I stalled, and I never returned to the story. I still have the same copy of Wizard and Glass that I bought back in 1997.

Strangely, some of what I remembered as being part of the second book in the Dark Tower series Drawing of the Three actually occurred in the beginning of the third book The Wastelands. Likewise, much of what I remembered as the ending of The Wastelands actually took place the chapters kicking off Wizard and Glass.

After the whirlwind action of books 2 and 3, the extended flashback in Wizard and Glass felt like getting bogged down to me. I was a different reader at that point compared to now.

I’m looking forward to righting the wrong of not finishing this book and the rest of the series.

My next post in this series will be After The Green Mile which will be linked on the Master List of all my Stephen King Revisited posts.
