The Case for Jessica Gomez – WOZ 17

by Jay Wilburn

I’m a big fan of Jessica Gomez and her Flash series. She has more great work with her After series. For this tour, she is featuring her Flash series prequel story found in the great anthology Undead Worlds.

The third book in her Flash series will be coming out in 2018. I can’t wait. She tell me the 3rd book picks up right after book 2. We live the book through Lillie and what her life is separated from the group and living with the Infected after she’s taken by them at the end of the last story to save her daughter. While she’s there, she has another obstacle, (which Gomez was not sharing with me) and has to learn to survive a completely different situation. We also get Ian’s side of the story and his frantic search to find her. James begins having small visions, enough to know Lillie’s new secret. We see how the cave family is functioning without her and how they plan to get her back. Their lives are in constant danger. Bad for them, but good for us readers.

I was curious how she got involved with the Undead Worlds anthology. She told me she blindly stumbled into a group of people who she really enjoyed talking to. After chatting and being a part of the Reanimated Writers group, they decided to do an anthology. The authors in the book all had great personalities and were very easy and open to work with. Best decision ever, she says.

I had noticed I did not often see short fiction from her and I asked her about that. Not very often, actually, she said. This story in Undead Worlds is the first that she’s published. But she really enjoyed writing it so much that she thinks Ishe’s going to do more. She has a romance anthology she plans on writing in for December. (No title yet). And she also wanted to do a small book of prequel stories for The Flash series. To tell about the characters’ lives during and after the flash, before they meet up at the caves. She’s leaning toward a title The Beginnings. This way the readers can get a feel for where each character came from and their struggles to get to the cave. I’m onboard and look forward to all of it.

I hope I have made the case for Jessica Gomez. Check out Undead Worlds and then pick up her Flash series. If you want to know more about Gomez, check out this “case for” post from a previous tour.
